Information You Enter
A name, phone number, or address typed into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Menlo Park Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you send a message, the mailbox receives the details you choose to include and uses them to respond or handle the request.
Routine Technical Logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and time stamps. Those ordinary logs help maintain security, diagnose faults, and understand traffic in aggregate. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement. The reference does not use those logs to create a personal resident profile.
Why That Information Is Used
Information is used to operate and secure the pages, answer messages, measure broad use, and improve the public-record explanations. Visitor lists are not sold, and the service does not intentionally build an individual dossier from a reader’s visit. A third-party search provider may apply its own purposes and terms.
External Record Portals
Links lead to San Mateo County and California portals, Menlo Park services, library collections, archives, courts, and sponsored search tools. Once a link is opened, the destination’s privacy policy controls what is submitted there. Read that policy before entering personal information, especially in a sponsored search form or a government application.
Who Processes Technical Data
Hosting and site-support providers may process server-log data for the limited purposes above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described in this policy. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it. It is not otherwise shared as a resident list.
Security and Retention
Pages are served over an encrypted connection, and technical logs are kept only for as long as the operating or security purpose requires. There are no user accounts here, so the service does not maintain a password, resident profile, or account history that could be exposed in a normal account breach. No security measure is a promise of absolute protection.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes that a minor sent personal information, use the Contact page to report it so the mailbox and available logs can be reviewed and the information removed when appropriate.
California Privacy Choices
Depending on coverage and circumstance, California privacy law may provide rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. The California Consumer Privacy Act includes deletion rights in Civil Code section 1798.105 and sale or sharing opt-out rights in section 1798.120. The DELETE Act, Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following, created the state Data Broker Registry and the DROP request platform, which began accepting requests in January 2026.
Because the reference keeps little, a request usually concerns a contact message or technical log. Public records held by the City of Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California agencies, courts, or libraries are outside this service’s control. Correction or removal of those records must be requested from the custodian. A broker opt-out does not alter the government source record.
Policy Changes
When the privacy practices or legal references change, an updated policy will be posted here with a new effective review point. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy. Questions about the wording or a privacy request may be sent through the Contact page.
